Power
"The great strength of ACHSS is in the cooperation. By pooling knowledge and experience, we arrive at better studies, therapies and guidance for athletes."
Ambition
"I have no burning ambition to do something completely new, but I do have the ambition to give further substance and expand what we have created. By giving ACHSS more structure and a clearer face, even more, people will know how to find us in the areas of top sport, recreational sport and research."
Collaboration
"It is a good group of people to work with. We complement each other and, if necessary, jump in for each other. When I was felled by corona last December, Simon Goedegebuure temporarily took over my duties. The Dutch tennis championships fell exactly in that period, and two young sports doctors from the network did the medical support. For them, it was, of course, a great experience."
Proud
"The collaboration has brought me some great things personally. I have become an extraordinary professor at the University of Pretoria and have been asked to attend IOC consensus meetings. From all our collaborations, precious products are coming out for athletes. It's nice to achieve so much together."
Future
"When corona has calmed down a bit, I would like to start mentoring and training more young doctors. Also, in the hope that among them is the future association doctor for the Tennis Association. It would be nice if that person gets a spot within ACHSS."
