Strength
"Our single most important strength is that we are experts in our respective fields and in unison improve care, research and education around elite sports, prevention and injuries. We do this with heart and respect for each other."
Ambition
"As far as I'm concerned, we could go a bit higher on ambition. We are a little too modest. Modesty is good when you're just starting out and still have to prove yourself, but we're past that stage. It's best if we show that we're good at what we do."
Collaborate
"The way we work together is unique, but let's realize that it's not a given. Collaboration is like a marriage. You have to nurture it constantly. We should give this soft skill a clear place within ACHSS to radiate to the young people in our network. After all, it's not just about the content, but also about keeping each other sharp and guaranteeing quality together."
Proud
"I am especially proud that our individual, professional qualities have been bundled into a well-run machine, in both the scientific and clinical fields. Within the Amsterdam Movement Sciences(AMS) institute, sport is one of the five main research themes. And within the Academic Center for Evidence-based Sports Medicine (ACES), we treat top athletes from the Netherlands and abroad. Not so much because we are so much better, but because we are curious and dissatisfied as long as we have not fully explored a problem."
Future
"Within the IOC, we are a unique centre, and we can express that even more. For example, we are the only ones to have a prominent place for radiology. If we can play the radiology card from ACHSS a little more extensively internationally, we will make our position even more unique. I'm happy to contribute to that."
